Artist Bio:
Darrin Owens is a representational artist working in oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal and pencil. After working 35 years in NYC for an actuarial firm, Darrin retired in 2022 and converted his garage to a studio to pursue his artistic journey. He began drawing as a child and continued sketching and painting on his own as a hobby. Darrin studied artistic anatomy under Frank Porcu and oil figure painting under Leonid Gervitz at the Art Students League of New York and pursued figure and portrait drawing under Joel Tidey at the Visual Arts Center of NJ. He attended the Florence Academy of Art in Italy during the summer of 2025 to study portraiture oil painting. Darrin has exhibited his contemporary realism artwork in numerous group and solo shows in New Jersey and New York. Darrin is strongly supported and encouraged by his wife, Jennifer, and three children – Emily, Max, and Clara. He currently lives in Westfield and is the President of the Westfield Art Association.
